Refer a business to Dolla & get paid
We'll share 20% of their merchant fees with you for the first 12 months.
Dolla is a mobile payments app built & backed by Kiwis on a mission to drive down the cost of doing business for thousands of small businesses in New Zealand.
Business owners in Aotearoa continue to pay some of the highest merchant services fees in the world with the recent Covid-19 pandemic only accelerating the demise of the local but languishing & underinvested EFTPOS network towards the higher cost, contactless & offshore owned card schemes.
We believe a competitive, low-cost domestic payments network should be at the cornerstone of our national digital infrastructure (NDI) enabling both businesses & consumers to securely, reliably & cost efficiently move funds from A to B.
Luckily in this country we already have the required banking infrastructure to support such a mission. Our existing interbank payments network has been successfully operating for many years now & via the necessary regulation to open it up (Consumer Data Right) & innovative technology companies like Akahu, Dolla is one of the first apps to unlock this network which we hope will foster much needed competition within our domestic payments scene & in turn, drive down the costs for all participants.
But we’re under no illusion as to how difficult it will be to bring a new payment method to the market, even if it is significantly cheaper, faster & smarter. The banks would prefer these payment “rails” remain safely locked away (they don’t make money on them 🙄) & the incumbent card schemes are massively entrenched with their network effects.
However, more so than anywhere else, Kiwis love a great “David vs Goliath” battle. Our country was built on it. It’s in our DNA. Most outsiders would look at Dolla & say “no chance”. History would suggest that to be true.
But I truly believe most people genuinely want to help a homegrown company offer a viable alternative to the status quo ... “What can I do to help?” is often asked of us.
Well today we’re super excited to launch our business referral program. If you want to help us spread the word, we’d love to help you in return. After all, that’s what Kiwis are famous for.
It’s really easy. You refer a business to Dolla & get paid for 12 months if they join up!
How does the referral program work?
From your mobile phone, tap here to download our app if you haven’t already or simply search for “Dolla” in your app store.
Once you’ve set up your account, tap on your profile picture (top right) & look for the “Referral Program” option.
Enter the business name & their contact email address. We’ll send an email & cc you in letting them know that you’ve referred them to Dolla.
Once they join & start accepting Dolla at their business, we’ll happily share 20% of their Dolla merchant fees with you for the first 12 months. Easy 👌.
Note: The first person to refer a business is eligible for the revenue sharing offer so get in quick. You can refer as many different businesses as you want however!
Why accept Dolla at a business?
It’s significantly cheaper than any other similar payment method. Our merchant service fees start from just 0.5%. Most small businesses in NZ are paying anywhere from 2-3%. At scale, Dolla has the potential to make a huge difference to the bottom line of all businesses big & small, both in-store & online.
We’ve cut out all the unnecessary middlemen. When you pay via Dolla, the funds move directly from account → account. Businesses get paid faster.
Businesses don’t require any additional hardware. You can start accepting Dolla right now via a mobile phone. We are working on POS & terminal integrations as we speak too.
So get sharing … if Jeff signs up 🤣, I’ll donate my 20% to The Tindall Foundation.
Cheers,
Ben Lynch
